QBC was established from humble beginnings in 1978...
and has been at the forefront of club surfing in Australia ever since. The clubs goal is to provide a competitive environment for young and mature surfers, while still creating a fun and social atmosphere for all members.
The club has been the breeding ground of world-class surfers such as Rob Bain, Merrick Davis, Ryan Alagich and Kingsley Looker, and current Pro Junior stars Sam Page and Nick Riley. QBC is the only club in Australia to have won The Quicksilver Surfleague National Series, Jim Beam National Surftag Series, Milo Gromtag Series and Globe Pro Junior Teams Challenge.
Members compete in 7 categories – A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade, Over 35’s, Under 18’s, Under 14’s and Women’s (Social Membership is also offered). Social Events and Presentation Nights are held bi-monthly after the contests. For over ten years QBC has had over 100 financial members annually.
Contests are held on the first Saturday of each month from February to December. If a contest is postponed it is held on the following Saturday. If you are unsure when the next contest is on (eg. Easter and October long weekends) refer to the last newsletter posted on the website.
Cut-Off Times are as follows...
7.30am O/35’s
8.00am A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade, U/18’s, U/14’s
10.00am Snr Womens, Jnr Womens
Any competitor checking in after these times will only be able to surf if there is a spare position in a heat.
All competitors...
are required to judge at least one heat during the day. If you have not judged before there are several ASP Accredited Judges in QBC who will be more than happy to assist you in gaining experience judging.
