Well Ladies and gentlemen it has finally happened, after years of leading his one man show through the depths of manlys nocturnal haunts, Ryan "rusty" Morris has finally found himself a sidekick, no its not cooky, it is the birth of his first child, a bouncing baby boy named Billy.
Well done to you both from all who knows you in the club, and congratulations on a heartfelt speech that left a few patrons at the civic club baying for your blood. And QBC's.
With what was more than likely our last ever moustache night at the club (due to building developments at the civos, not Meggy's speech) It was great to see another controversial winner in webmaster Graham Newman. With Duncan "nudge" crick looking the part for the past 8 years and claiming only 1 title and 7 brides maid tags in those years, it was no surprise to see another 2ND placing heading his way. Maybe its the continual usage of the mo throughout the year that always pips him at the post.
The July contest was held in clean 2-3ft waves with over 60 competitors taking part. With school holidays in full force it was great to see a large number of grommets still turn up in droves.
With the under 14's being a very competetive bunch it's great too see different faces making the finals each month and also hanging around untill the end of the day helping out. Most of the under 14's are judging well over their required 2 heats per person per comp and are showing most of the older guys in the club a few things about what it actually takes to run the club rather than talking about it, well done to all you groms. Great effort.

In the past few weeks the club has purchased a surfing contest heat timer and hooter system, these items are expensive and the committee would appreciate that no members touch these items unless instructed to by contest director Brad Harro or club president Marcus Cav. These items are currently awaiting a stand to be made and should hopefully be up and running by the September Tag team contest.
Once again, 30Th year ball tickets will be on sale at the August club contest. Tickets are $125pp and tickets can only be purchased up until the 15Th of October, one month prior to the event. All past and present members are encouraged to attend.
A few people have been asking who will be given life membership at the 30Th year ball, well that's up to the members, so if you think anybody is of life membership quality, you must put it in writing and forward it to a committee member, whom must second that nomination, after that the vote goes to the current committee and then forwarded onto the current life members for approval, and then a final approval by the whole club in a secret ballot at the following club contest. Marvo and Rob Bain went through this process and will be officially recognised at the 30Th year ball along with any other member fortunate enough to pass all these standards.
A couple of junior contests are scheduled to be run at Queenscliff over the next 2 months, firstly the final of the Mick Fanning RED BULL JUNIOR SURF MASTERS is booked in for the 29Th August to the 1st of September, a great event with all the top juniors set to carve up our beach for over $50,000 in prizes and cash, Red Bull have been very supportive to QBC in the lead up to this event offering 2 wild cards into the regional eliminations at Avalon, and one wild card straight into the final, also offering us to run the BBQ at the event. Red bull also gave club prez Marcus Cav a taste of what may also be one of our end of year prizes in a flight on the aerobatic red bull plane along with club member Luke cheadle. The 45minute flight took them thru plummeting tail spins to flying upside down and sequential loop de loops. Definatly not for the faint hearted.
The second event is the Mambo pro junior to be held from the 18Th to 21st September, and once again, QBC will be looking to run the BBQ at the event so if you can offer 4 hours of your time to help out on one of the weekend days it would be greatly appreciated. For any junior wishing to compete in either of these events, log onto the Surfing NSW website and download an entry form.
Good luck to all the guys doing the Europe leg of the WQS over the next 2 months, and have fun with the other QBC'ers travelling with you, should be fun...
See you all at the August 2nd club contest, bring your money and buy a ball ticket
Cav.
