G'day all and welcome to September. GO THE EAGLES.

Well wasn't it great to finally run a club contest. After what seemed like a month of swell we were incredibly unlucky not to hold our August club comp amongst some great spring easterly swell.

By the looks of it most of our members were also desperate for a dose of competition surfing with 55 competitors showing up, and hanging around for the September Rob Bain Tag Team contest.

In what was what many are saying "the best club day" they have been involved in, it really was great to see many competitors and a thousand hanger-ons sit around all day and enjoy a great day of surfing and club bonding. With 20 people in the final, a 30c day and a free BBQ and relevant drinks for the last hour of competition, there really was no other place to be.

In the end the final 4 teams of 5 surfers each battled it out for a set of Skull Candy Headsets in small but contestable summer nor-east peaks.

The results looked something like this...

The next club contest will now be on the 4Th of October, this is the long weekend and will be a double point score contest, so not one to be missed. Normal cut-off times to apply. This is due to the Layne Beachley WCT event being held at our beach from the 9Th to the 12Th October.

The QBC 30TH year ball is only a few weeks away now, Saturday the 18Th of October is the day, so if you have not secured a ticket you must do so at the next club contest. Tickets are $125pp and include canapes, a 3 course meal, premium alcohol package and entertainment. For more info and details on how to direct deposit for payment, click onto the 30Th year ball icon on the homepage.

As the year draws closer to an end, if any member has any ideas for next year, or would like to join our ageing committee, please feel free to contact prez Marcus cav at our next club contest. A big thanks to recent users of our beach Red Bull and Mambo for putting on 2 great junior events and looking after the best beach and club in the world, lets hope Layne can do the same.

Club stalwart Trent McCann has been nominated for life membership of our great club, so at the October double point score contest, all members must vote on this in a secret ballot before their heat. The current committee past this motion onto the 6 life members and in a majority vote has been passed onto we the members for final voting.

Having a look at the point score heading into the double point score comp, "B" grade is very hotly contested this year with a bevy of big boofheaded blokes, The rat will be aiming for his first ever podium finish, Bret Cohen has moved from over 35"s to be right in contention for a final 3 finish, big Ozzie Morgan started well but has dropped off the pace but is keen to make amends in October, then their is Tim and meggsy. Certainly alot of stretched skin amongst this crew, lets just hope it is overhead for them all to have some sort of a chance. rumour has it 2 of this crew are keen to step up a grade next year...

See you all on October 4Th
Cav.
